aNDREW McCORMICK
Hi there — I’m an independent writer and reporter in Washington, D.C. My work has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Nation, Columbia Journalism Review, and the South China Morning Post, among other publications. The majority of my reporting focuses on human rights, climate change, and military & veterans’ issues. In 2019, I helped launch Covering Climate Now, a global journalism nonprofit strengthening coverage of the climate story, where I serve as deputy director. I’ve additionally served as adjunct faculty at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Before journalism, I was a US Navy officer, which took me from Afghanistan to East Africa, Japan, and the South China Sea. Louisville, Kentucky is home.
